The Discipleship Pathway
"They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer."
Acts 2:42
"Come, follow me," Jesus said.
Matthew 4:19
At Mission, we believe discipleship is not a class. It's a way of life.
Following Jesus is more than learning information. It's learning how to live. It's allowing the teachings of Jesus, the presence of the Holy Spirit, and the support of Christian community to shape who we are becoming.
While every person's journey looks different, we believe discipleship happens through three simple rhythms:
Gather. Grow. Go.
Gather
We gather because we need God and we need one another.
Throughout this season of planting, that looks like Interest Socials, Team Nights, Gather worship nights, prayer gatherings, meals, and future Sunday worship experiences. We believe something powerful happens when people consistently make room for worship, prayer, Scripture, and community.
Discipleship begins by showing up and intentionally participating in the life of God's people.
Grow
We grow as we learn to follow Jesus together.
Growth happens through relationships, conversations, prayer, Scripture, serving, accountability, and everyday acts of obedience.
In the future, this will include structured discipleship opportunities like Essentials and missional communities. For now, we are committed to helping people take meaningful next steps through intentional relationships and spiritual formation.
No one grows alone.
Healthy disciples are formed in community.
Go
We believe every follower of Jesus is a local missionary.
Discipleship always moves outward. As we follow Jesus, we learn to love our neighbors, serve our city, share our faith, and use our gifts to contribute to what God is building.
This happens through serving, generosity, hospitality, prayer, invitation, and everyday faithfulness.
The mission of Jesus was never meant to stay inside church gatherings.
It was always meant to move into homes, neighborhoods, schools, workplaces, and cities.
Stewardship & Generosity
We believe generosity is a core part of discipleship because discipleship is not only about our words, it's about our trust. Jesus often spoke about money because it is deeply connected to the heart.
"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
Matthew 6:21
We believe in the biblical principle of the tithe, returning the first 10% of our income to God through the local church. Tithing is not about obligation. It's about trust, obedience, and worship. It reminds us that God is our provider and that everything we have belongs to Him first.
At the same time, we recognize that everyone is on a spiritual and financial journey. Whether someone is taking their first step toward generosity or has practiced it for years, we want every person to participate in what God is building through Mission.
Generosity is a spiritual formation and a financial practice.
As we learn to follow Jesus together, we seek to steward our time, gifts, resources, influence, and finances in ways that honor God and serve others. We believe mature disciples become generous people, and generous people help build healthy churches, strong communities, and a hopeful future for our city.
What's Next?
As Mission continues to grow, we'll create additional pathways and resources to help people deepen their faith, discover their gifts, and develop as leaders.
For now, our invitation is simple:
Gather consistently.
Grow intentionally.
Go faithfully.
Because we believe healthy disciples make healthy disciples.
And together, we're learning how to follow Jesus.
