Mission Team Covenant
"Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant."
Mark 10:43
At Mission, we believe serving is one of the ways we become more like Jesus. We aren't simply filling roles or helping run gatherings. We are learning how to follow Jesus together while helping create space for others to encounter Him, too.
Every conversation matters. Every prayer matters. Every act of hospitality matters. Every chair set out, every person welcomed, every meal shared, every unseen act of faithfulness matters. Because people matter.
As we build Mission together, we are committed to being servant leaders, vision carriers, and friends & neighbors. We understand that healthy churches are built by ordinary people who love deeply, serve faithfully, and invest themselves in what God is doing.
This covenant is not about perfection. It is about posture.
It is a commitment to becoming the kind of people who reflect Jesus, serve one another, and contribute meaningfully to the flourishing of our city.
As a Member of the Mission Team, I Commit To...
Carry the Heart of a Servant Leader
I commit to serving with humility, joy, and consistency.
I understand that leadership begins with service and that influence is earned through faithfulness.
I will listen with empathy, lead through influence, invest in others' growth, and steward people and resources well for the good of the church and the city.
I understand that every act of service is an opportunity to reflect the heart of Jesus.
Carry the Vision
I commit to helping build the church we see.
A church rooted in formation, marked by community, and committed to mission.
I understand that Gainesville needs healthy disciples who make healthy disciples, and I will use my gifts, influence, and opportunities to help make that vision a reality.
I will speak positively about what God is building, invite others into it, and contribute to the culture we are creating together.
Be a Friend and Neighbor
I commit to loving people well.
I will make room at the table, learn people's stories, celebrate their victories, and walk with them through challenges.
I understand that discipleship happens through relationships, and I will help create a community where people feel known, valued, and cared for.
I will treat every person as someone made in the image of God and worthy of dignity, respect, and love.
Pursue Growth
I commit to my own spiritual formation.
I will remain teachable, rooted in Scripture, devoted to prayer, engaged in community, and open to the work of the Holy Spirit.
I understand that serving others flows from a healthy relationship with Jesus.
I welcome encouragement, accountability, correction, and discipleship as part of becoming more like Him.
Build Together
I commit to showing up faithfully and contributing wholeheartedly.
I understand that Mission is bigger than any one person and stronger when every person plays their part.
I will serve generously with my time, gifts, resources, and presence.
I will protect unity, assume the best in others, and help cultivate a culture of trust, humility, and encouragement.
I understand that what we build together today can impact generations tomorrow.
The Commitment
Today, I am choosing to be part of something bigger than myself.
I am committing to serve faithfully, grow continually, love people deeply, and help build the church we see.
A church where people are learning how to follow Jesus together.
A church that loves Gainesville.
A church that contributes to the flourishing of its city.
A church where disciples make disciples.
By God's grace, I will be a servant leader, a vision carrier, and a friend and neighbor.
And I will help build it.
